Summer Camp 2021

A total of 50 students signed up for both weeks of this camp.

A total of 50 students registered for this camp. Our Summer Camp 2021 ran for two sessions from July 26th - July 30th and August 16th - August 20th. For each day of the 5 day camp, we focused on one main topic to teach. Day one covered speech. This included things such as an introduction to speech, what makes a good speaker, the importance of speech, and multiple activities to engage the participants. Day two focused on both economics and effective studying. Economics included supply and demand, types of economic systems, and effects on the environment. Effective study strategies covered prioritization, schedules, and limiting distractions. Day three taught current events, networking, and coding. Current events helped to inform students about the COVID-19 situation, the Olympics, and the US presidential election happening at the time. Networking taught students about the importance of making connections. Students learned the basics of python as well as how to make a discord bot during the coding seminar. Day four included financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Financial literacy focused on budgeting, credit/debit management, and investing. Entrepreneurship introduced a final project, in which students had to come up with a product and a business pitch to sell it. Pitches were presented on the fifth day of camp.
